This is what I consider FUN food much like these Loaded Totchos or Bacon Wrapped Brats with Beer Cheese Sauce. And, if you want a fun dessert I highly recommend these Snicker Cupcakes.

My 11-year-old loves pigs in a blanket. I have to admit there is something about them that is just perfect. While oftentimes we make traditional pigs in a blanket using the lil smokies and crescent roll dough, in this version it is easier to make and uses pizza dough instead. Then they are baked all together so it is fun to pull off the pieces you want.

Can These Be Made Ahead?

I love when there are ways to save time and stay out of the kitchen especially when we have guests over. Since it does take time to wrap all of the lil smokies, you might want to do the wrapping and preparing of the pigs in the blanket before your guests arrive and have it ready to go into the oven. You do not want to bake them until you are ready to serve them, for the best tasting results.

How to Store Leftover Pigs in a Blanket

If you have leftovers pigs in a blanket, you want to store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last for about 4 days when they are stored properly. To reheat the pigs in a blanket, you want to reheat them in the oven and not the microwave.

  • 1 to 2 cans refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 (28 ounce) package co*cktail sausages, patted dried
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

How to Make Pullapart Pigs in a Blanket

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare a 9-inch cake pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Roll out pizza dough and flatten evenly with a rolling pin.

Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut pizza dough into pieces that are 1 inch by 2 inches.

Wrap dough pieces around co*cktail sausages and press to seal. Stand sausages up around cake pan. Do not over crowd. Continue placing sausages in the circle until it is as full as desired. If space remains in the middle and you are afraid the sausages might fall over, wad up a piece of aluminum foil and tuck into the middle.

Mix together melted butter and garlic powder. Pour over sausages.

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the dough is cooked. If the sausages begin to get too dark, loosely tent with aluminum foil.

Allow to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the cake pan. To remove, place a plate over the cake pan and flip sausages out. Then, place the serving plate over the sausages and flip to bring upright.
