First bamboo rod

Well, I went north yesterday and committed myself to fishing my first bamboo fly rod. First, that was a good commitment I thoroughly enjoyed this rod. It’s a blank I purchased from John Niemann at Razing Kane fly rods and built out this past winter. I’ll begin by saying John is great person to work with, very helpful and just a nice guy! This rod is his take on a para 15, and I have to say it is cool! Looks great, but more importantly it cast beautifully, far more powerful than I expected, and casting was a blast. I spent most of the day just getting a feel for the casting stroke but I got it and kind of understood it , it was awesome. It was a pretty day, with lots of sunshine and some wind, and our waters are running low but I still managed some small brookies and lost two nice browns swinging a Hendrickson flymph. A great day and hopefully many more to come.
Mike.

Great photo of the blonde gal laid out nicely in a beautiful setting. Once the cork starts to get the fishy patina and you really bond with it, the graphites might end up lonely! Best of luck - nice rod!

Thanks all, the graphite started taking a back seat a while ago, last summer my smallmouth fishing was entailed my ff 806, which by the way my girlfriend bought for me brand new in 1974, still have both of them I have wanted bamboo forever, I still the 1976 season opener fly fishing magazine with the bamboo rod and other related items. I hope to add some rods for different applications and will be picking some brains here for thoughts.

My lovely wife bought me for Christmas in the early '90's, a beautiful Sage 4711 in graphite 2, the original LL series. 2 3/8 ounces of pure smoothness in a 4 weight. Until I got bit by her also buying me an Edwards built 1312T Shakespeare in near mint shape, I fished the Sage hard but it still is in fine order. It hasn't seen a stream in years.
The collective knowledge here of cane rods and everything associated with them is second to none. I've enjoyed the wealth of information and have learned more than I would have imagined possible. Great site and folks here.
